Resting Hand

Damage to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand is common, particularly due to sports injuries. Our range of products can provide effective treatment for medical conditions such as Tennis Elbow, Golfers Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and more.

What are they?

The construction varies - can be a thermoplastic shell encompassing the front section of the wrist, hand and forearm, or a malleable (mouldable) frame covered with a soft material layer. It is secured with a series of velcro straps.

What do they do?

Positions the wrist, hand and fingers in a neutral resting position. Those with a malleable frame can be adjusted to accommodate a position which is not in neutral alignment.

 

Indications for use:

  • Contracture management.

  • Positional aid.

Neoprene

Supports.

What are they?

Neoprene supports can be tailored to fit around any aspect of the wrist, hand and/ or fingers. The supports typically open along the back of the wrist/hand and are secured with velcro closures. A lightweight removable metal strip can be positioned to provide added control and is shaped to the anatomy at supply.

What do they do?

The supports provide functional control of the wrist, hand and fingers. They can also be used to maintain anatomical positioning. 

 

Indications for use:

  • Sprains and strains of the wrist/ hand. 

  • Low muscle tone.

  • Poor alignment or positioning.

  • Contracture management.

Elasticated

Supports.

What are they?

An elasticated sleeve which extends from the mid palm area to the lower forearm. The sleeve opens along the back of the wrist/hand and is secured with velcro closures. There is a lightweight removable metal strip positioned in a pocket along the front (palmer) side of the splint which is shaped to the wrist anatomy at supply. A thumb section can be included. 

What do they do?

They provide mild to moderate control and support to the wrist area and aid in anatomical positioning.

 

Indications for use:

  • Sprains and strains of the wrist/ hand. 

  • Poor alignment or positioning.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
