What are they?

A support for the shoulder made from a cotton based fabric. The support is secured at the front with velcro tabs to secure the elbow and hand in the sleeve. The sleeve has 2 straps which wrap around the waist and shoulder to help secure it.

What do they do?

Maintain elevation of the arm and shoulder, providing rotational control and restricting against unwanted movement.

 

Indications for use:

  • Mild - moderate strains/ sprains.

  • Pre- and post- surgery.

Arm

Sling.

What does it do?

Allows the arm to be rested in a comfortable position. Acts as a reminder to limit movement.

 

What is it?

A fabric material where the lower portion of the arm is rested. A strap runs from the wrist section of the sling, over the shoulder and behind the neck to the back of the elbow section. Some arm slings include a waist strap. The straps allow for suspension and positioning of the arm. 

Who is it 

suitable for? 

Typically used following sprains of the wrist, elbow and/ or shoulder.

ROM

Brace.

What is it?

Two flexible cuffs attach around the upper and lower portions of the arm with a telescopic strut connecting the cuffs to a joint at the elbow. The skin is cushioned from the brace by a comfortable foam lining.

What does it do?

It provides motion control at the elbow. Some joints can be designed to apply a gentle, stretching force in one direction. 

Who is it 

suitable for? 

Where the elbows range of motion needs to be restricted, for example post surgery. The ROM brace can be used for contracture management. 

Epicondylitis

Clasps.

What are they?

An encircling band wraps around the upper section of the forearm. This is secured by a velcro strap. The inner portion of the band has shaped pads.  

What do they do?

The  band applies a compressive force over the area where the muscles and tendons blend. This reduces stress of the tendon at its attachment to the bone. 

Who are they 

suitable for? 

Golfers or Tennis elbow. 

An overload injury to the tendons on the inside or outside of the elbow.
